Christian Practice is built on radical data minimization and respect for your spiritual life.
1Local-Only Content
Your personal reflections, journal entries, and private prayer intentions are stored exclusively on your device using Apple SwiftData. They are never transmitted to Cloudflare, logged, or read by anyone else.
2Authentication
We support Sign in with Apple only. We do not collect passwords or build social advertising profiles.
3Pray Together Anonymity
Community Prayer Moments contain only predefined structured topics. There are no public user profiles, photos, or messaging. Live presence counts reflect active connection count only and never broadcast participant identities.
If you join a shared prayer from the web without the app, we set one first-party cookie holding a random identifier, so that reloading the page does not count you twice. We store only a keyed hash of it next to that prayer. It is not linked to your name, your IP address or your device, and it is not used for anything else.
4Audio & Microphone
The optional voice reminder feature records audio locally on your device for your own alarm. It is never uploaded to any server.
5What We Store on Our Servers
To run the app across your devices we store: a one-way hashed account identifier derived from Sign in with Apple (never your name or email); your language, time zone and, only if you choose one, your country; which daily practices and path steps you committed to and completed, and when; the prayer moments you create or join; the guided prayers you finish (which prayer, how long, which day); a record of what you do in the app — prayers started, finished or left early, practices and path days kept, people you read about, quiz results, reminders and suggestions you open or set aside — each with the day it happened and never with anything you wrote; the Christian tradition and companion you choose, the people whose quiz you completed, and the days of a companion walk you completed; your subscription status as reported by Apple; if you allow notifications, the token Apple gives your device for them, used only to tell you when someone says yes to a prayer you created; and, when you reflect, the difficulty you selected and any preset tags you tapped. The text you write and tags you type yourself stay on your device.
If you join a week together in which the group sees one another, we also store the name you type for that group, and show it, with which days of that path you kept, to the people in that group and to no one else. It is removed when you leave the group or delete your account.
6How We Use It
Only to provide the app: assigning your daily practice, showing your progress and streak, suggesting paths, prayers and people that fit where you are, verifying your subscription, and showing how many people are praying in a prayer moment. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
6aPersonalisation Is Your Choice
Your tradition and what you pray can reveal your religious beliefs, which the law in many countries treats as sensitive. In the European Union, the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom the record of what you do is only kept on your account after you agree in the app; elsewhere it is on and the app tells you so the first time you use it. You can turn it off at any time under Settings → Privacy and personalisation: from then on nothing new is sent and suggestions are the same anyone would get. On the same page you can download a copy of your data as a file, or delete your history without deleting your account.
7Nothing Is Shown to Other Users
There are no public profiles, rankings or feeds. Other people never see your progress or your streak; in a shared prayer they see only how many people are present. The one exception is a week together that you choose to join, as described in section 5: its members see the name you gave and which days of that path you kept.
8Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account. This removes your practice history, paths, preferences, prayer moments, prayers you finished, your activity record, collected people, companion walk progress and reflection feedback from our servers, revokes the Sign in with Apple authorization, and clears reflections stored on that device. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage it in your Apple ID settings.
9This Website and the Waiting List
If you join the waiting list on this website, we keep your email address, the language of the page you joined from, and, if you followed a link from one of our posts, which post it was. We use them only to tell you when the app is ready and to send you occasional news about it. We do not sell or share the list.
The list is held for us by Kit (kit.com), an email service, which sends those emails on our behalf and asks you to confirm your address first. Your address is not kept on our servers or in the app. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, which removes you from the list; you can also write to us and we will delete your address.
The pages of this website set no cookies and show no advertising. (Joining a shared prayer from the web is described in section 3.)
10Your Rights and Contact
You may ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by writing to support@christianpractice.app.
